Eggs freshly laid by our "daily fresh pasture" raised hen's. Every morning we move their house to a new area of grass on the farm, so they always have fresh green grass to eat and scratch in, and all that comes with it.
We supplement the grass they eat with Certified Organic Layer feed. They are fed free choice - so there is always food available for them to eat whenever they want.
Eggs are collected daily and ready for pickup. If you're interested please give us a call and let us know and we'll put a dozen on the side for you.

It's all ready time to order this years broiler/fryer chickens. We will receive them several times throughout the year staring as early as March depending on demand. We raise them on the farm with fresh daily pasture and certified organic grain, and take care of all the butchering, so in about 8 weeks from delivery you can come by and pick up fresh ready to freeze or roast whole chickens. If you are interested give me a call so I can order before the hatchery sells out.
We raised Cornish Cross meat birds this spring, and it went great. The chicks are fed a 100% Organic Certified chick ration for 3 weeks while they live inside in the brooder to keep them warm and safe while they feather out.
Once they are large enough and have enough feathers to keep themselves warm they get to move out to the pasture.
While on pasture they feed on grass, weeds, insects, and worms which is supplemented with a 100% organic 'Grower' blend chicken food. (All sourced directly from New Country Organic's mill in Virginia.)
While on pasture the birds live in a 10 foot by 12 foot 'Chicken Tractor" that protects them from the elements and predators. The 'Chicken Tractor' is moved every day to fresh, clean grass. This means each of our chickens got an average of 6 square feet of fresh ground every day, for a total of over 300 feet of fresh, grassy space per bird. Factory farmed (organic or conventional, free range or not) chicken spend their entire lives on less than one square foot per chicken!
The birds live on the pasture for 5 to 6 more weeks continuing to grow and eat grass, organic chicken feed, insects and worms.
The grazing on the grass and scratching in the dirt de-thatches, aerates, and stimulates the growth of the pasture grasses.
The manure left behind by the chickens services as a nitrogen rich fertilizer further stimulating growth and improving soil health.
Because the chickens are in the sunshine and fresh air and always moved off their manure, none of the birds got sick or needed any medicines or medical attention. The opposite of traditional confinement factory chicken farming.
Chickens were butchered on the farm and our customers could take home whole birds or parts to eat or freeze.
Locally growing produce varieties for flavor and nutrition - not cross country journeys and shelf life.
Working to maximize native pollinator habitat while also getting help from beneficial insects and helper species to control pests without toxic chemicals.
We build our soil with compost, mulch, and organic material and use low and no-till practices so we don't disrupt the precious soil biology.
A system is only sustainable when we get more out of it than we have to put in. We try to accomplish this through smart design and permaculture principles.
We grow nutrient dense food in soil that is cared for, supported only with natural fertility, and harvested with with respect at the peak of freshness.
